Long John Silver’s Continuing to Build Their Brand

I recently read the article by Alicia Kelso with Nation’s Restaurant News about Long John Silver’s building on its modernization efforts.  I remember going to Long John Silver’s as a kid and it was great.  They have struggled over the years but are now in a strong position to grow the brand to be great again.

In the article the head of marketing and innovation, Christopher Caudill, stated that “We’re a 56-year-old brand, but some of our restaurants look like they’re 75 years old”.  “We need to update those to be more inviting. It’s costly, but the return is fantastic.”

It is easy for brands to get excited about planned capital spending when they clearly see the financial returns.  Having a modern building design helps to drive customer transactions and can help with employee retention.

Now is the time for Long John Silver’s to stay committed to their 3-5 year planned capital investment plan and get organized.  They can leverage their buying power by bundling these remodel projects to reduce the overall cost and still maintain the same quality finished product.  We would love to work with them and show them a path to success with their remodel program.
